Cosmetic Surgery Cost

Are you planning on getting a breast augmentation done? What about a facelift? Most patients looking to get cosmetic surgery done often have one question on their minds. How much does it cost?

Most plastic surgery websites will leave the price information out, leaving patients with more questions than answers. Here are a few general price tags on common cosmetic surgeries in the United States.

  • 2. Rhinoplasty
  • 3. Breast Augmentation

1. Facelifts

An extensive facelift can set you back $8,000 in surgeon’s fees. Total facelift surgery costs can go up to $30,000, including time-out accosts and surgical expenses. Unfortunately, health insurance does not cover the cost of a facelift, especially when it’s an elective procedure.

2. Rhinoplasty

A nose job, also known as a rhinoplasty, can cost you about $6,000 in surgeon’s fees. The total expenditure for getting a rhinoplasty can go up to $20,000. The cost will depend on the type of rhinoplasty procedures you get.

3. Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is a common cosmetic procedure in the United States. The price tag can range between $6,000 and $12,000. Breast augmentation may cost more than this but usually costs below $12,000. Factors affecting your final price include complications and a second procedure to refine the first surgery’s results.

4. Tummy Tuck

Many patients require a tummy tuck after significant weight loss. In addition, most patients will get a liposuction procedure done concurrently to enhance the final results. The average cost of a tummy tuck is about $7,000. This cost excludes anesthesia, medication, and medical facility fees. If you factor in all the expenses, you could pay $20,000 in total.

A Way Around the Prices

Patients opting to get several cosmetic surgeries done in one go may get a better price. For example, women who opt to get a Mommy Makeover will generally pay less than women who get the individual procedures one at a time. There are several reasons for this. One reason is that a Mommy Makeover saves the surgeon time that would otherwise be spent on consultation for multiple cosmetic procedures.

Additionally, the surgeon requires less medication to keep the patient sedated during the procedure compared to the amount necessary to keep the patient under for multiple cosmetic surgeries. Lastly, getting multiple cosmetic procedures done at a go minimizes the recovery time so the patient can return to work in no time.

Health Insurance and Cosmetic procedures

Most cosmetic procedures do not cover cosmetic procedures because they are considered elective procedures. Some patients might have a health insurance cover that recognizes some cosmetic procedures as medically necessary. In such cases, the insurance provider may cover the entire cost of the surgery or at least a portion of the expenses.

Cosmetic Procedures FAQ

Are cheaper cosmetic surgeries risk-prone?

When the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. A highly cheap cosmetic procedure is a red flag for any client. If you suspect your cosmetic surgeon of the medical facility is not up to par, the best thing is to seek a second opinion before making a financial commitment. It is also essential to check if your plastic surgeon is board certified and if the medical facility is accredited.

What is the right age to have plastic surgery?

Most people wonder when they should get a cosmetic procedure done. The truth is there is no right time to get cosmetic surgery done. It depends on the cost, the reasons for the procedure, and the recovery time.

Older patients are more likely to get eyelid lifts, brow lifts, facelifts, and neck lifts. In comparison, younger patients are more likely to get cosmetic procedures like liposuction, breast augmentation, and rhinoplasty. Your plastic surgeon will also discuss individual factors with you during your consultations. Common factors that need to be addressed include bone structure, pre-existing medical conditions, size, age, and overall health.

Does it matter where I get my cosmetic surgery?

Yes, the surgical environment plays a critical factor in your recovery and cosmetic outcome. Medical facilities earn accreditation when they set merit, like providing life support equipment and systems in case anything goes wrong. A medical facility also determines the sterility of your procedure which saves you from post-operative complications.

I want cosmetic surgery; where do I start?

Once you have decided to get cosmetic surgery, the first thing to do is get an appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon. You can get your primary care physician to recommend a plastic surgeon if you don’t know anyone. You can also get a good plastic surgeon through online platforms where previous patients leave reviews guiding you on what to expect.

Is cosmetic surgery an outpatient procedure?

Yes, most cosmetic surgeries are outpatient, meaning you will get to leave the hospital on the same day. This may change if the patient experiences complications during the surgery.
